Review the duration, distance, number of stops, terrain, suggested ages and admission requirements. The preview shows the start and finish. Intermediate destinations are hidden until you solve your way to them.

Download before you head out.
Download the essential trail content with a reliable connection and wait for Ready offline. My Trails shows the saved revision and download size, and lets you remove a download while keeping your local progress and badges.
If a new revision is published, My Trails shows an update and offers a new download. An unfinished run stays pinned to its original route, so updated clues cannot change the game halfway through. An earlier completed badge is kept when you start an updated revision.
Arrive, then open the puzzle.
Follow the written approach notes to the current stop. When you request a GPS check, your phone checks the reading on-device and discards it. Depending on the experience, a stop may instead use a QR sign or short code.
Location permission is optional. If a check fails, the app explains whether the reading was inaccurate, old or outside the area and offers the configured fallback. Fallback codes allow you to continue seamlessly without compromise. Never leave a safe public area just to make a check succeed.
Solve it. Unloc the next discovery.
Look around and answer the question. Multiple-choice and short-text puzzles use configured answers; a wrong answer can be tried again, and a hint helps if you are stuck. Points are awarded once when the solve is saved.
A short story marks the discovery. Choose Unloc next stop to reveal the following destination. Your progress is saved on the device, so you can leave and return later in the same browser or installed app.

The final solve leads to a completion badge and score in My Trails. Any genuine optional offer has its own dates and terms; finishing alone does not guarantee an offer.
No player account is required and there is no cloud save. Clearing browser storage or using Clear my data removes your local records. Installing the app in a separate browser context may give it separate storage.
Staying safe while undertaking a trail.
A great walk is a safe walk. Always look up from your screen while moving between stops, especially near busy roads, tram lines, canal towpaths and crowded pavements. Step aside to a safe, stationary spot before reading clues, entering answers or checking directions.
Check daylight hours and the weather forecast before heading out, and dress for the terrain. Never climb barriers, scale statues, trespass onto private property or step into traffic to satisfy a check-in or read an inscription. If a location check is difficult, use the provided fallback code rather than putting yourself in an unsafe position.
